For outdoor adventurers, there is an abundance of naturally wonderful activity to be discovered on Redlands Coast. There is so much to see, do and explore that you will surely be visiting this beautiful part of south-east Queensland more than once.
The whale watching season, from June to November, is well underway and for land-based whale watching there is no topping North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah).
More than 40,000 whales pass by the island every year to reach the warmer northern waters before returning south during spring time, often with calves close by their sides. Minjerribah’s Point Lookout is considered one of the best places on the east coast of Australia to see these majestic creatures, with a range of vantage points on offer.
Be sure to follow the Whale Track, a short leisurely stroll along the coastline at Point Lookout complete with whale viewing platforms.
The track connects onto the recently completed Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk, which leads to the beautiful Gorge Walk. The spectacular, panoramic vistas across vast stretches of beach and ocean in this area are truly something to see.
Other marine life, including dolphins, turtles, manta rays, and fish, plus an abundance of wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas and birdlife, can also be spotted from these vantage points.

Head along the pristine beaches on a 4×4 tour, hit the dunes with a sandboarding adventure, go beach fishing, or explore your way around the nine-hole golf course set among nature. Take the scenic route and bushwalk through the Naree Budjong Djara National Park or simply relax with some down time as you enjoy the island’s natural beauty and savour the fresh, local seafood alongside the perfect picnic backdrop.

In need of some more island time? Redlands Coast has no shortage of island get-aways.
Take a 10-minute ferry ride from Victoria Point to Coochiemudlo Island (Goochie Mudlo) for a great family day out featuring beach picnics, wetland walks or a 5km stroll around the island’s Emerald Fringe.
You can also visit one of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands and enjoy the relaxed, island lifestyle. On Macleay Island you can explore the local arts complex, have a game of barefoot bowls along the waterfront, and enjoy dining from a range of island eateries.

Redlands Coast is also home to a diverse range of coastal and hinterland adventures, including kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and watercraft experiences along the sparkling waters of Moreton Bay, as well as a diverse range of popular eco-trails that are well worth exploring, with trails suitable for bushwalkers, horse riders and mountain bike riders.
